Sew Love is a social enterprise providing pop-up fun spaces and resources for people to be creative, learn new skills, and get to know their neighbours. We focus on reducing landfill and strengthening communities in a fun positive way.
Auckland Council enlisted the Sew Love community to knit and yarn bomb Bledisloe Pocket Park in the midst of grey winter. Every lunchtime we had tea, music, knitting lessons and people from all walks of life gathered to add more rainbows to the cement of the city centre. View more.
LessonsIn a 6x3m gazebo we housed a costume making and craft zone for splore goers. Workshops included: Gods Eye mobiles, Tent Bunting, Fabric Flower Crowns, & postcards. 100% recycled materials, and leaving no trace behind.
Festivals, Workshops, DIYMonthly on a friday night we hosted a sewcial (say it like social) where sewers could bring their own projects and join in a mending, knitting, stitching evening with new friends, wine & nibbles. We could pop this up at your place too, get in touch and gather your pals.

Making, TourSewing is not just for the ladies, at Sew Love in St Kevins, and at all of our pop ups, we have been stoked to see so many guys giving making a go. Our friendly machines Barry, Betty & Basil all love welcoming new friends to sew - young and old! So conquer those fears, tackle that new year resolution and get in touch for a sewing lesson with your friends in your town.
April 24 marks the day of the Rana Plaza Factory Collapse in Bangladesh, and a reminder to ask WHO made your clothes? and in WHAT conditions? We hosted a photobooth in the shop window for our community of customers and sewists who know #imademyclothes!
Sew Love is all about providing an opportunity, space and resources for people and communities to come together, do something practical for themselves, each other and the environment. In our workshops, we focus on re-using discarded resources and treasures, meeting your neighbours, and creating a more meaningful life.

See us in action and join a class!
The last two summers we've been travelling around NZ taking the fun of creative sustainability on the road, popping up at recycle centre's, op shops, farmers markets and campgrounds to get kiwis mending and making and appreciating our beautiful slice of Mother Earth. Currently we are parked up more permanently in Whaingaroa, Raglan and preparing sustainable sewing workshops for the wider Waikato community. If you see us parked up, come and say kia ora!!
Keen to have the Sarah & Cecil visit your town? Might you have an event you’d like Sew Love to pop up at? Or any questions about learning to sew and our upcoming classes… Send us a note at hello@sewlove.nz.
